Radiotherapy

About 40 - 50% of patients with oral and oropharyngeal cancer will require radiotherapy as part of their treatment.

Radiotherapy treatment normally lasts for about six weeks. It takes place at The Clatterbridge Cancer Centre NHS Foundation Trust . We strongly recommend the Clatterbridge booklets and these are available in clinic, ward or from the Clinical Nurse Specialists.

You will usually be seen back in clinic two weeks after completion of your treatment. If you do not have an appointment to come back to clinic, please make one by telephoning the clinic receptionist using the number on the front of this booklet.

If you feel that you need to see a doctor here, at the clinic, during your radiotherapy treatment, again, make an appointment by telephoning the clinic receptionist or Consultant's secretary.
