We are the Merseyside Head & Neck Cancer Patient and Carer Support Group (HaNC for short).
Quite simply, nobody knows what it is like to have head and neck cancer better than the patients and carers who have already been through it.
The entire journey – from diagnosis, through surgery and treatment, and on to recovery – is a real roller-coaster of a ride. Everyone copes differently. However, when asked about the one thing they wish they had known, or had available to them, that really would have really helped, all our members said:
“Someone to talk to – who know what it’s like because they’ve been there too.”
So that’s why HaNC exists – patients and carers from across the region meeting up to chat, share experiences and support each other.
We always welcome new members to the Group (patients, carers, friends & family). So feel to attend the next meeting.
Please watch our homepage or check our calendar for up to date information on the next HaNC meeting dates and locations. We try to meet at least once a month in the same place, but it is best to check (you can even subscribe to the calendar feed if you wish! Alternatively you can sign up to our Facebook page for regular updates on Support Group activity.)
But we also want to give something back, so our other activities feed directly into clinical practice developments and help fundraise towards support and research via the Patient Research Forum .
