What is a fibula free flap?
- A fibula free flap is when an area of tissue and bone is taken is taken from one of your bones in the lower leg (fibula).
- This flap is often used to reconstruct areas in your mouth that require replacement bone following surgery for head and neck cancer.
- The flap is a living graft which means that the blood vessels in the flap are then connected to the blood vessels in the mouth
